After meeting at a very young age at school in Reading, Rhys Edwards, Joseph Stone, Ben White and Sam Pilsbury have been making music together, forming their very own soundtrack to the process of growing up in the Thames Valley.
Tripwires’ sound is one that is spacey and absorbing; though it has inevitably not been formed in a vacuum. Blending influences from progressive, psychedelic, shoegaze, pop and noise rock genres; Tripwires conjure familiarity, yet sound interestingly modern.
Tripwires continue writing and rehearsing at their own practice space in their home town of Reading. A small room in Sam’s grandparent’s house crowded with musical trinkets horded over the years, it still remains a home for the band who first started playing music here in their early teens.
In 2011 the band released the track ‘Cinnamon’ online as a free download. As a result of this the band were invited to play Lattitude and Bestival festivals, as well as the band’s first appearance in Europe at the Reeperbahn festival in Hamburg. In early 2012 Tripwires released ‘Emerald’, another free download, this time accompanied by a motion sickness inducing tambourine cam video. Following this the band have recently signed a deal with Frenchkiss Records.
Tripwires start recording their debut album in Brooklyn, NYC with producer Nicolas Vernhes (Deerhunter, Animal Collective) in September, with the album expected to be released early 2013.
